Inspiring and interesting read thank you! Never knew you could can so much, will definitely give it a go. Have only tried syrups, jams and drying so excited to try some new things. Did I read that right - bear!?
Its got a reputation for being gamey & tough if not cooked properly. Not the first choice but, nobody lets any meat go to waste there. The occasional bear that ended up in the freezer was a problem bear. Every now & again you get ones that have been living off rubbish & raking bins so, they can get used to that sort of diet. (Also, makes it almost impossible to compost there too!) I remember one that ripped part of our garage door off once to get in at the bins. Black bears generally are harmless though and more afraid of humans than humans afraid of them but, they are very curious. I once brought my husband & daughter out to our cabin in the woods to stay for a week & my husband asked me what the big muddy streaks down the patio doors were when we arrived. He was not too comfortable with the answer that it was a bear trying to get in the cabin. 😂. But, its only trying to get in because it can either smell something it wants in the cupboards or just curious. Hope you enjoy your chive blossom vinegar! The colour is gorgeous after its finished infusing. 😍
What an interesting post! I am very tempted to give canning a go. I really like the look of the chive blossom vinegar - a good use of the tons of chive blossom I have! I did try eating some of the blossom recently - they taste as expected 😂 - good for making salads look pretty.
Excellent read.
I'm going to give canning a go 💚
